January 2011 - Excavator Move at Foxleigh Mine

ECR Heavy Lift recently completed the move of a 550T Excavator on site at Anglo’s Foxleigh Coal Mine using an 18 Axle Goldhofer Self Propelled Modular Trailer.  The excavator, a Terex RH340-B, was transported a distance of 5.5km between working pits on site.  Transporting in this fashion significantly reduces the undercarriage wear on the excavator and increases the time it is available for production compared with the traditional method of walking the machine under its own power.

ECR used 3 x 6 Axle PST and THP modular trailers bolted together to form an 18 Axle Hydraulic Platform Trailer capable of lifting 750T.  The trailer was assisted by a Push Truck to help it climb some of the grades encountered along the haul road.  The move took approximately 12 hours from loading to unloading the excavator at its new work location.  Foxleigh Mine expressed their satisfaction with the safe and professional manner in which the job was completed.

Well done guys!
